Student Scholarships

Through our NBC Challenge Committee, we award Year 7-8 Scholarships each year to existing Year 6 students. This scholarship removes obstacles, ensuring a successful transition and continued engagement at the college.

Our students are encouraged to apply for a range of scholarships, with many receiving local, state, and national awards. In recent years, students have excelled in programs like Skyline and Western Chances, as well as various scholarships, cadetships, and awards.

Northern Bay College awards Year 7-8 Scholarships in four key pillars:

  1. Academic: Core curriculum subjects, including English, Maths, Languages, Humanities, and other learning experiences.
  2. Sciences and Technologies: Science (chemistry, physics, biology), STEM/STEAM, digital technologies, and technical subjects like Wood, Food, Textiles, Robotics, and Mechanical.
  3. Sport, Physical Education, and Health: Interschool and community sports, Physical Education, and health.
  4. The Arts: Music, Dance, Dramatic Arts, Visual Arts, Media, and Graphics.

Year 6 students can apply through a three-stage process: a written application, an interview shortlist, and scholarship awards. The scholarship begins in Year 7 or 8 and supports students through to the Goldsworthy Years 9-12 Campus, preparing them for Year 12 and beyond.

The Year 7-8 Scholarships provide benefits up to $4,000, tailored to each scholar and their chosen pillar. Scholars, with their parent/carer, meet with the Student Enrichment Principal, Ken Massari, to determine the best support areas.

Support can include:

  • Specialist equipment, books, and materials specific to the pillar
  • Development opportunities like leadership, public speaking, coaching, tutoring, accelerated learning, guest speakers, and excursions
  • Membership/registration assistance
