Community Hubs

Community Hubs serve as a bridge, connecting families with each other, their school, and available services. The program is recognised as a leading model for engaging and supporting migrant women with young children. Focused on women with preschool-aged children, Community Hubs make use of existing facilities in primary schools and community centres to provide valuable resources and support

Our Community Hubs are located on Peacock Campus and Family Learning Centre, Goldsworthy Campus

Community Hubs

Why migrant women

Without our welcoming hub to visit, many migrant women can spend most of their time at home, isolated from the rest of the community. Some migrant women in our community cannot drive, some have limited public transport access, many have young children and cannot access child-minding. Women who miss out on available services can then go without opportunities to meet other people, to learn, or to receive health support, and their children can arrive at school without having English language or social skills. Our Hub staff provide soft entry and engagement programs that help women access support they might otherwise miss.
