Disability and Inclusion

Our College accesses many programs and resources available to help us meet the needs of all students, including students with disabilities.

Northern Bay P-12 College aims to maximise student engagement as well as growth in learning and personal capabilities by committing to the provision of inclusive education practices. Our inclusive school culture enables all learners, including those students diagnosed with a disability or have additional learning needs, to fully participate in our curriculum and programs.

Individual educational needs are closely monitored and reviewed by the Inclusive Practices and Stages of Learning teams at each campus. Meaningful and achievable learning goals are created with students and reasonable adjustments to support the student are identified and agreed to.

Disability Inclusion funding supports our school to provide:

  • Specialist staff, such as occupational therapists, physiotherapists and speech pathologists
  • specialist equipment like assistive technology
  • training for teachers so they understand your child’s disability or additional needs
  • specialist teachers
  • education support staff such as teacher aides.
  • specialised programs to work within our school setting
  • small group targeted intervention
  • modified and highly supported classrooms when required

Students with disabilities and additional learning needs who attend Northern Bay P-12 College have access to all courses, facilities and activities of the school, as well as buildings and grounds. The school has easy access for all students to be able to use the school’s facilities.
